I have a major confession to make. For someone who obsessively purchases pillows, and owns far far too many, I never really put a ton of thought into the ones decorating our breakfast nook. In fact, when we finally finished the kitchen renovations (nearly two years ago now!), I simply threw some piles of pillows on there that I already had, and have been rotating through them ever since.

As someone who loves any excuse for a seasonal change, it’s actually shocking that I hadn’t really taken the time to do this sooner, but when challenged by Tuesday Morning to give a little refresh to any space in my home that felt neglected… I knew this space was it.

Luckily, I was thoughtful about the main pieces in this room – including that vintage rug that I love – when designing the space. So when shopping for some refresh options, I didn’t need a ton, but I knew I wanted to bring in some richer tones for winter as well as a little sparkle. I always feel like it’s more necessary in the dark months to add some subtle metallic!

I kept a few of my original pillows in the mix, but added a pair of the gorgeous olive green velvet with the cuuuuutest fur pom poms, one big silvery velvet pillow to anchor the corner, and a pair of the marbleized metallic pillows that have the most subtle green swirl and a really pretty gold ‘splatter’ in them.

This mix felt classic, moody, current and luxurious all at once.

I wasn’t the only one who got to indulge in some cozy moments – I also got Gracie a new little doggie bed for the kitchen too! She loves to sit with me when I work out of the breakfast nook, and I usually just throw a blanket down there for her. Now she’s got a cozy spot to curl up in! Tuesday Morning had so many good dog beds, I honestly had a hard time choosing one! I might go back for another come spring, so we can switch up the look with the seasons. They’re so incredibly affordable!

My other favorite section to shop in the store is – no surprise – the tabletop section. They always have some goodies, and the second I spied these transferware style bowls, I had to have them. SO perfect for cozy winter soups and bone broths. The soup spoons were also a fun purchase – I don’t have any proper soup spoons, and we love soup at our house.

I also scooped up a few beautiful serving platters that will come in very handy for thanksgiving! And I’m obsessed with the napkins I found too. They have such a romantic style, and I’ll definitely be setting my table with them during the holidays and beyond!

I can’t tell you how cozy and pulled-together our breakfast nook feels now! I love the new seasonal palette – it feels even better in the evening, by warm candlelight. We don’t use this space nearly enough, and these changes have made me want to spend more of our dinners here, especially sipping our soup!
