I’ve been paying an absurd amount of attention to kitchens lately. Why? Well, on top of the small remodel we did in our office studio, I’ve been slowly updating the kitchen in my loft, and of course daydreaming of remodeling the one in my guy’s house too. It’s an overwhelming task, and the more I look the more I find inspiration…

But lately, it’s been this kitchen that’s caught my eye. Not my typical style with its light wood and a bit of a colder feel, but there are plenty of features to swoon over. Like the insane amount of storage against the far wall – which opens up the rest of the space for cabinets only.

Or the gorgeous marble backsplash and especially that half wall leading up to a single floating shelf. An interesting design choice, but one I really love. You can’t tell from the photo, but the counters are marble inlay as well…

But back to the details here. One thing I’ve been struggling with is different hardware finishes in my own kitchen. I’ve been leaning towards brass hardware all along, but with all the grey and the stainless steel appliances, I’ve suddenly been wondering if a nice nickel finish might be the way to go. But I love what’s going on here – brass pulls, but nickel lighting. The same high shine finish pulls them together, and somehow the bar stools seem to help round things out too.

I’m intrigued by the funny little flush mounts dotted across the ceiling – I wonder if that was intentional, or a way to convert previous canned lighting? My parent’s kitchen (yet another one needing a major makeover) has canned lighting and I’ve been trying to think of ways to easily disguise some of them. What do you think of the ones here?

In fact, what do you think of the whole thing?
