As the days heat up around here, I’ve had a craving for worldly escapes… or at least potentially transforming my home into one.

At my guy’s house there’s what I romanticize to be a sunroom where the floor is covered with large terra cotta tile that doesn’t fit the house at all, but if I were to spice things up in the rest of the home, I could see how they’d fit in just fine. Enter some inspiration from model Eugenia Silva’s home in the island of Formentera…

I love the traditional furnishings in all states of worn woods and metals and wovens, but what really makes the home is the rich palettes and textiles…

These two moments (above and below) might be my favorites in the space. The green armoire paired with those layered rugs is so good – and the paddles as art lending even more color. And the bedroom is just so cheerful!

Don’t even get me started on the outside of the home…

Amazingly enough, it’s not so hard to get this look for your own space. No, we may not have our own little escapes in the Balearic islands but with the right mix I could see this style fitting into any modern home.

1. organic glass pendant // 2. red and white bedding (sheets and duvet!) // 3. throw pillow // 4. antique chest // 5. worn wood dining table // 6. woven tray // 7. baskets // 8. colorful woven rug

The keys to this style are fairly simple. The more antique (or antique looking) furniture the better – in worn and simple styles. Painted is even better! That pop of color – like the chairs in the dining room, or the green chest – is essential to break up all the wood pieces. The look is very collected – layering rugs and pillows over all the furniture lends to that. Purposeful but well curated accessories round out the rooms nicely.
