I’ve spoken fondly of my friend and interior designer, Brian Paquette, quite a few times on my blog, but today I’m excited to share with you a space that’s a bit more personal to him… his own home.

On a beautiful Seattle day, the space feels light, welcoming and calm. On the greyest of days, it envelops you with comfort and a feeling of home. I attribute this to a few things…

One – there is always always a candle burning (see it?) when you enter the room. Two – the man himself is one of the most wonderful, genuine souls I’ve ever met. His attention to detail in the home is a reflection of that. Everything is selected with care and heart – there is meaning or purpose to every little decorative item…

I have spent a fair share of evenings enjoying a whiskey and catching up on life in the comfort of his sofa (his own design), letting my eyes wander around the room, noticing little additions – or subtractions – to the space. Nothing is to precious – everything on a level of comfort that makes one feel like they might just move right in… (don’t worry, Brian, I won’t. Maybe.)

Funny enough, it’s the dining room that actually contains all my favorite details – starting with this incredible mirror…

And ending with the fact that he wallpapered the whole thing in copies of pages torn from a book…

I’m also bananas about the banana.

But maybe my most favorite part of this home is the attention to styling and detail. I mean, we all know how much I love a good vignette!

To see more images of the space (including the bedroom!) and to read about my wonderful and talented friend, please pop over to the latest issue of Rue that just came out today! I’m so proud of all that he’s accomplished and trust me when I say he is definitely one to watch for years to come.
