Funny how inspiration pops up just when you need it. When roaming around online this past weekend I stumbled on this gorgeous home. A warm Scandinavian style in velvet and linen, these rooms are encompassing the two textures I was wanting to incorporate most into my own living room for the One Room Challenge. Perfect timing!
The simplicity of this living room – and this whole home actually – is deceiving. The closer you look the more you find lovely little details and collections that are adding personality. The fun little vignettes behind this linen chair being one of them! Also, I’m mentally noting the use of that FLOS lamp – I absolutely love this style by Michael Anastassiades.
On the other side of the window sits a lovely little home office that is separated by the divider, but still filled with all that lovely light…
More yummy velvet! I love this color – I’ve been wanting this exact tone for the chair in my own office. This room may be my favorite for its warmth and whimsy. The floating sailboat, the collections tucked throughout the room… so sweet. And of course a hit of marble. All around a grand combination.
The kitchen and dining table exude worn warmth while still remaining as simple and pared down as the rest of the home. The use of a sconce to fill that big wall is so unique!
The hallways in the home are not neglected – they hold as many little treasures as the rest of the space.
In the bedroom – clean lines and sparse decor keep things quiet. It’s actually be the only room in the house that I wish was a little more warm. A beat up leather headboard perhaps?
Whatever your takeaway, the more I look at this house tour the more little details I see that I’d love to bring into my own home. Here’s how I’d get the look…
1. flos modern sconce 2. linen pillows 3. black marble vase 4. brass geel plates 5. linen sofa 6. glass hurricanes 7. black marble coffee table 8. velvet chair 9. vintage glass cobra
Touches of color amongst neutrals. Mixes of velvet and linen. Black marble. And many collected touches of personality throughout! These are the keys to this overall style. It’s not hard, but it takes a little restraint and a lot of thoughtful choices. I know we’ve talked about being a little over the inundation of this look in the blog world, there is something about this house that really does it for me. Perhaps because it lays a perfect foundation for my ideal home.
