With its whitewashed walls and ceilings, comfortable style and perfectly placed decor, this relaxed ranch house in Sonoma County had me at hello. I’ve been going a little crazy with rethinking a few things in my own house lately, but when I saw this space, all I could think of was, “Yes! that’s what I want!”. Fresh, welcoming and everything in its perfect place…

The home belongs to Laura Resen and her partner, Cloud Devine, and it’s no mistake that this property is picture perfect. The two of them are photographers and Laura focuses on interiors especially. As she put it in the One King’s Lane article: “It’s important that I arrange things so that there’s a dynamic quality to them—I don’t want anything to disappear.” This quote is like my styling mantra. I’ve never heard it so well put before!

It’s very apparent that so much thought has been put into the placement of each piece in the home – but not so much thought that it feels cold or like you can’t touch anything. Rather, for me, it invites the eye to wander.

As for the home itself, the couple did a massive renovation of the space, but I love that they preserved the ranch feel that’s so appropriate for Sonoma with details like beadboard and those plank ceilings.

In the dining room (and most spaces)  the mix of mid-century modern furnishings keeps things clean while warm wood pieces keep things cozy. Also, I have massive amounts of fireplace envy going on here.

I love this mix of furniture that creates a little entryway console area below! I’m also taking major note of how Lauren styles her gallery walls. They aren’t so perfect or closely clumped a I usually do mine, and I kind of dig it. There’s a lot of nice floating space around each piece.

In the bedroom, things get a little more cozy and country, but the mid-century pieces still make an appearance along with a fantastic hat collection…

This is apparently a little office (and perhaps guest room?) that Laura uses inside the house, but the best part of this home is in the backyard…

Nope, it’s not a pool or a gorgeous landscaped meadow (both of which they have, by the way) – it’s their studio. This is my dream you guys. To have a little shack out back that has tons of natural light and space to settle into work, maybe even do some photo shoots! How ideal is this!?

They truly have an insanely good eye for mid-century design. I’m not always the biggest fan of this era, but the way they do it, I’m happy to hop on as a bandwagon fan! For some ideas on how to get the look, you can shop the One King’s Lane page that was curated just for this home.
