In a perfect world, I think we’d all have a beach house. Somewhere to escape everyday life (whatever that may be) and just slow down. An essential part of which would be a light, casual, comfortable setting in which to do so, and Lisa Sherry’s North Carolina beach house is the perfect example of what that looks like…

The easiest way to translate beach without overdoing it? Plenty of natural, woven texture, which is definitely prominent throughout the design of the house.

Plenty of white and neutrals help to create a quiet environment, while layers keep things cozy and casual.

I love this sun porch area adjacent to the living room – the white marlin and the cluster of lanterns all speak to a design sense that doesn’t take itself too seriously!

Back inside a more ‘formal’ dining area sits next to the kitchen. I love the natural wood paneling touches throughout the home too. Everything is so soft and light and natural!

Upstairs, this coziness awaits. I would be here all day reading my decor mags and summer novels…

The use of modern lines in the furniture selections helps keep things feeling a bit more refined, like this little reading nook moment.

And then, of course, the dreamy bedroom…

I’m a big fan of this half-canopy softening the modern headboard, and again a bit of playfulness with the oversized goldfish duvet.

Here’s how we’d get the look in our own home!
