One of my favorite elements of any room is the lighting, so it’s no wonder that out of all the elements in the kitchen, this has been the hardest to decide on! Before I show you all the options, I want to talk about why we narrowed the lighting down to what we have here.

  1. We opted not to do any sort of recessed lighting in the kitchen, so the overhead lights we chose had to be bright and able to accommodate high-wattage bulbs. That ruled out any edison style lighting.
  2. While we both enjoy industrial pendants, we felt like most of the vintage style ones were heavy or fussy – and we just weren’t into it for our kitchen. I think we’ve got industrial fatigue from the restaurants we go to – ha!
  3. The ceilings in our home aren’t super high, so while we wanted some statement lighting, we couldn’t go too big.

Factor in that I’m trying to makes sure that whatever we pick for the kitchen is in line with both our styles, and here’s what we came up with!

If you’re anything like me, then it’s not really enough to see these pendants all side by side – you gotta see them in the room! Check out the renderings below (thanks to our cabinet designers – Omega cabinets!) where I popped in all these combinations!
