Yipppeeeeee! The day of our great One Room Challenge Dressing Room reveal is here, and personally I’m thrilled. Mostly because as fun as this has been, it was really time to wrap this sucker up so that I could move on to finishing off some updates in the living room before (dun dun dun) CHRISTMAS. Yikes. But enough of that. Let me show you my brand new gorgeous, feminine, classy, soft, relaxing, heavenly space! (If I do say so myself…)
Hello cozy chaise where I intend to spend many an hour sipping tea (or champagne) while reading books (or doing work). You’ll notice that this affordable Ikea beauty has been updated with some Pretty Pegs for legs that are about 5 billion times better than what that piece comes with. A furry throw completes the scene along with a menagerie of mismatched pillows that I plucked from around the house.
And then there’s this.
Inspired by the combination of raw wood and brass in the legs I ordered for the chaise, I saved myself a teensy bit of money by ordering the gorgeous end brackets from this amazing shop called Signature Things who make all their pieces once you order, so the finishes are perfect. Family owned and with great customer service (they called to confirm my order and respond to my please to have things shipped asap!) I seriously cannot wait to use them for more projects. The rod? It’s a $5 dowel from Lowe’s. WIN.
Sidenote – as one commenter asked, no this is not for all my clothing! I’m keeping just my favorite essentials here so they’re easy to grab instead of digging in the smaller, dark closet for them!
And now on to that dresser…
Remember last week when I was struggling with artwork? Well, this shelf – that I had already planned on using – solved that problem. Originally it was going to hang over by the chaise, but it felt too heavy, so I added it here instead! The perfect spot to hang scarves and baubles!
And then of course, there’s the wallpaper wall… (hubba hubba).
A super simple mirror that also came from Urban Outfitters (but sadly looks like it’s now out of stock?) is just what I wanted. Anything too ornate would have distracted from the gorgeous paper, in my opinion. I separated my pair of pink stools – one by the mirror and one by the chaise, for more spots to (let’s be honest) throw clothes on. Of course if I have the girls over, they’ll have a place to sit too.
Inside the closet – a miracle in the form of shoe storage! This piece happened to be an exact fit for the length of the side of the closet where I wanted to put my heels! I also installed a similar clothing rack to the hanging bar – that’s where the rest of my clothes will go (we had to push them aside to get this shot!).
I’m sure my flats will be in a more grab-n-go spot (tbd) but I’m glad all my shoes have a place together now! What I love about the small closet is space is that it is making me be a bit more selective with the items I keep and store. My more formal dresses will now live downstairs in the guest room closet too.
Ready for a few more details?
My Jennifer Ament mask print follows me to every favorite room in my homes.
Remember this wood bead DIY? It’s right at home in this space.
I found it amusing that so many of my pieces for this room came from Portland. This sweet chime from Pigeon Toe Ceramics hangs behind the closet door on a hook that was already existing. The wallpaper is also from Portland company Makelike and the overhead light from Cedar & Moss.
Is it heavenly or what? I’d love to know what you think of it!
I’m going to attempt to list out allllll the sources below for items I purchased for the room, but I have to give a special shout out to those who sponsored parts of this project: Farrow & Ball, Bellacor, Urban Outfitters, Makelike, and Pottery Barn – I couldn’t have made this room without your generosity! And to Dorothée of Belathée for these stunning photos too.
If you haven’t been following along, you can see what this room looked like before right here, and read all six weeks of posts right here.
Don’t forget to see everyone else’s final posts too! I can’t wait to pop around to see how the rest of the rooms turned out.
