For the past two years now, I’ve put a lot of thought into the holiday tabletops that we create to inspire your own. Two years ago, I was inspired by our all-white studio to do something that felt sophisticated, and twinkling – our Celestial Tabletop. Then last year, we were all about color and playful touches in our Whimsical Wonderland. This year? Well, it must be the need for comfort and joy, but I wanted to return to something a little more traditional…
And so our 12 Days of Christmas table was born! To be honest, there were lots of ideas (or maybe I should say visions of sugarplums) swirling around in my head for this year. But when it came down to it, I wanted something a little more simple than we’ve done in year’s past.
I considered all sorts of fun ideas for this setting – stuffing the greenery with 12 tiny drums or having seven swans a swimming around the table, but – again – simplicity. I discovered this sweet hand-drawn card by Wildship and immediately knew I wanted to use the little illustrations for our place cards! So she created them (and you can get them right here!).
The centerpiece, was obvious, though. A partridge to sit in our ‘pear tree’ greenery!
I love the way the furs on the benches and the bay leaf garland brought so much texture to the table! It felt so incredibly cozy. Adding a little gold in the dishes, linens and flatware elevated the table, but never felt too fussy.
We nestled little glowing votives right into those greens, and then added a touch of greenery to the dishes to tie it all together…
Now this is a table I can actually picture setting for the holidays – sitting down to enjoy a long, happy meal with family without too much fuss, and whole lot of love.
