Evergreen, pine branches, dried goodies OH MY! These are the more typical (and lovely) ingredients we see going into wreaths and garlands this time of year. So, we thought we’d freshen things up a bit with this tutorial on how to incorporate fresh floral into this season’s festive decorations.
Materials:
- Floralife Sure Stick
- Oasis Floral Tape
- Floral snips
- Mirror
- Water tubes
Make four sections of greenery for each side of mirror OR enough to cover your mirror frame at the degree of coverage you want. Be careful not to make your garlands too heavy or thick.
Apply pea to marble sized amounts of Floralife Sure Stick along ridge of frame. Lay garland atop and firmly press woody stems info Sure Stick.
Now we are ready to add some additional color and texture!
If using floral that you want to last a few days (here we used orchids, carnations and roses) use floral tubes to keep buds hydrated. You do have the option of inserting floral and letting it naturally dry, however, in this case, we chose flowers that are rather hardy and don’t require too much water to stay in tip top shape for your weekend of entertaining.
Gently weave your floral tube and bloom into your garland, adding a dab of Sure Stick if needed.
Once you’re creation is finished, trim away any unruly pieces or branches going crazy or laying oddly. Then find the perfect place to hang your masterpiece!
Your garland will preserve best if placed out of drafts or very warm locations in order to maintain maximum freshness. We put ours right in the entryway, but away from the door – the perfect way to greet your holiday guests with a unique, festive floral garland creation that is sure to impress!
