Valentine’s Day. On one hand, a sweet excuse to showing your honey a little extra love. On the other hand, an over-commercialized holiday you can’t wait to pass.
I’ve been on both sides of the coin, both honoring and avoiding St. Valentine, and I think I’ve found a middle ground suitable for your preferred way of celebrating: alcohol. Think of this as Valentine’s Day in a glass. A splash of rose water gives a festive floweriness to the cocktail, while sparkling wine add a little romance. On the flip side, a shot of vodka and Chambord are there to help numb the pain of cupid’s arrow. See? Everybody wins.
Whether you’re determinedly avoiding V-Day, cozying up with your sweetheart, or are just in the mood for something tasty to jump-start your Saturday night, this little rosy number should hit the spot.
Two Lips & A Rose // serves 2
- 3 oz Vodka
- 3 oz Chambord
- 1 tsp Rose Water
- Sparkling wine, to top
- Edible or candied rose petals for garnish
Measure the vodka, Chambord, and rose water into into a cocktail mixer with ice. Shake vigorously to chill. Strain the contents evenly amongst two coupes. Top the cocktail off with a liberal splash of sparkling wine or prosecco. We garnished ours with some rose petals, but the edible variety can be hard to find, so candied rose petals or raspberries will also work!
The best part? All you need to enjoy this drink is two lips and one rose. No hot date required.
