So, it’s Thursday afternoon, and I’m pretty much already counting down to the weekend, which means it’s time to start thinking about cocktails!

If you were intrigued by the flavor profile in the pistachio cake we posted yesterday, then here’s a complimentary one for you – we’re calling it The Green Rose…

The Green Rose G&T // serves 2

  • 2 oz Hendrick’s Gin (infused with rose and cucumber, this gin specifically works well for this recipe!)
  • Rose water
  • Tonic water
  • Half a fresh lime or lime juice
  • Cardamom bitters or fresh ground cardamom
  • Lime leaves for garnish (or a simple lime peel will do!)

This one is rather simple!  Just like your basic G&T, but with a twist. In a cocktail shaker muddle the fresh lime and a splash of rose water (a little of this goes a long way, and the gin already has the rose infused into it!). Then add the gin, shake, and strain into a glass. Top with a dash of cardamom bitters and tonic. Garnish with the lime leaves!

A few notes: If you aren’t using Hendricks, feel free to add a bit more rose water for flavor, and if you don’t have cardamom bitters handy, you can use ground cardamom by placing a teeny pinch at the bottom of the glass and pouring the drink into it. I love the way the lime leaves look as a garnish here! We found them in the fresh herbs section at our local specialty market, and they have a nice aroma that adds to the cocktail nicely.
