You know how we love to entertain around these parts and there’s no question that a bowl of poppy punch is the quickest way to add festive zing to any get together. Since Morocco is on our minds, we wanted to celebrate with a cocktail inspired by the country’s national drink – Whiskey Berbère. Where there’s no booze in that mint tea, Moroccans do love to enjoy it on the bubbly side (which is achieved by a high pouring method).

With a clever play on the national drink’s name and its bubbles, this tea-infused spiked punch is not only packed with bourbon and prosecco, it also has complex layers such as dry sherry and smokey scotch that when paired with green and mint tea has a fragrant and unique flavor unlike any big batch drink we’ve had before! We especially love that this can be made ahead of time so you can focus on all the realllly important party details – like which stemware and linens are going to make an appearance.

Moroccan Mint & Green Tea Spiked Punch

Servings: Makes a big batch punch for 10-12 people (split recipe in half if you’re looking to entertain on the more intimate side)

  • 8 cups water
  • 3 Moroccan mint tea bags
  • 3 green tea bags
  • 1/3 cup white agave (or simple syrup)
  • 1 bottle prosecco or cava
  • 2 cups Scotch
  • 2 cups Irish whiskey
  • 2 cups dry Sherry
  • 2 cups fresh orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 block of ice (or at least 6-8 extra large cocktail cubes)
  • Edible Flowers (for garnish)

Bourbon Green Tea Punch Prep | Kristin Guy | Dine X DesignBring 8 cups water to a boil and remove from heat. Add all of the tea bags and steep for 5-7 minutes (if using loose leaf tea measure out 1 heaping tsp per tea bag noted). Remove tea bags, add agave and let tea cool down to room temp or place in the refrigerator until cool.

Bourbon Green Tea Punch Garnish | Kristin Guy | Dine X DesignIn a large punch bowl, add fresh juice, spirits and tea – stir well. Add a block of ice to the punch bowl and top with a cava/prosecco float. Garnish glasses with edible flowers…because you’re fancy like that!

If prepping in advance, mix up up this punch (minus the prosecco/cava) up to two days before serving and refrigerate in a sealed container.  Add bubbles (and cue your playlist) right before guests arrive.

Smooth, earthy and a little bit of unexpected fizz – this is definitely one punchy punch that is worthy of any occasion…even if it’s just you and a couple of dear friends wearing slippers catching up on life and reality tv.

Cheers! Kristin
