Last winter, I threw a baby shower for my best gal Erin (who most of you know from Apartment34), and a year later her little boy is about to turn one! So we thought it was high time we shared some of our favorite elements from the day with you.
I was tasked – of course – with designing the event with a little direction from her…
Erin wanted the shower to be sophisticated and neutral (no oversaturation of blue for this gal!). So, the invitation that I designed with Farewell Paperie set the tone. The theme was all about moons, stars and clouds, and the palette a simple grey and white with little bits of rose gold….
We decorated with paper mache clouds made by my friend Sara Ewalt of Pinyadayada (we nixed the piñata part in favor of simplicity!) and strung metallic paper stars from them! This nook was Erin’s throne for the day, where she greeted guests and opened gifts.
We left little paper stars scattered around so guests could write sweet messages for the mama-to-be and hang them from the clouds! It was a really cute little touch, and a nice memento for Erin. It also offered a great backdrop for photos!
For the hosts, we put together little thank you goodie bags, filled with small items that were on-theme, while every guest came away with a perfectly wrapped Rose Lip Conditioner from Aerin with a tag that said ‘for goodnight kisses’…
We had a light lunch of mini sandwiches and small bites for guests to nibble on, and then, of course, there was DESSERT!
Jennifer Shea of Trophy Cupcake brought us these sweet treats that could not have been cuter with their moon, star, stripes and clouds motif. And, I couldn’t resist adding themed cookies to the mix too!
