It being our first Christmas in the office, I wanted to do something really special for my friends and co-workers to celebrate. So, when the ladies at Rue asked us to shoot our office for their holiday issue, I knew I wanted to put together a magical little table to go with it…
Featured on Rue’s site today, our shining, wintery table was inspired by several items – the rich velvet burgundy in our office chairs, and one of my absolute favorite china patterns of all time – the Bernardaud Etoiles collection.
Of course, we all know I don’t like to get too matchy, so I had to throw in those stunning swirled metallic dishes by Juliska, and a modern printed napkin from West Elm.
While the idea of having a true outdoor winter dining experience (snow and all) sounds great in theory, the reality seems a bit miserable to someone like me (constantly cold!). So, I decided our all-white office would be the perfect backdrop to create a similar mood.
The ‘icy’ table linens were a perfect fit, and I even added a thin dusting of fake snow to the setting! Candleholders in opaque whites completed the icy look, and we left the florals a bit wild to contrast the traditional settings and provide an outdoor feel.
Place settings were topped with rock candies as a sweet gift for each guest, but my most favorite element might have been the raw pyrite placecards…
Subtle, and organic, I thought they worked perfectly for a ‘celestial’ theme. Like little moon rocks.
The tree – of course – was decorated in similar colors and set the perfect backdrop for an evening of shimmer…
And as the sun began to set, the room was bathed in a warm glow…
And the party was ready to begin!
