On days when life feels a little too crazy for me to handle, I like to start my morning off with a little wanderlust escape, preferably to places I’ve actually been and seen because I can close my eyes and just pretend I’m there…
Welcome to Le Jardin in Marrakech. A place I’ve mentioned before around here because I adore it for so many reasons.
When you enter through an unassuming door in the Medina, you have no idea that you are stepping into this gorgeous courtyard filled with lush trees providing shade from the heat, and floors grounded in gorgeous green tile. Marrakech architecture is all about scale, and the incredible height of the doorways and rooms lend to the drama.
As a designer who is obsessed with every shade of green, this restaurant in particular has me fascinated. I love how quickly the bright open feeling turns moody in this coveted corner room.
Upstairs (where green tiles meet green walls, and I just about die from happiness!) another covered area provides shade for those seeking it, up above the treetops. I love the way they mounted those gorgeous Moroccan rugs for decor here!
Through that bright green door and around the corner, sits the rooftop lounge…
The perfect spot to sip a cooling drink while basking in the sun! It feels fantastic in February, which is when we were there but I can’t imagine you’d want to be there in the hottest days of the summer!
The low banquette seating invites long lounging lunches, and that lush green enhances the exotic atmosphere, as does the food, obviously!! Did I mention that it’s all delicious? Because just as important as the decor is a fantastic menu, and Le Jardin does not disappoint! I strongly recommend the tagines or mixed grill, and their fruit juices and shakes.
