Seattle has seen a lot of growth in the past few years, and along with it has come many new spaces to explore: restaurants, shops and hotels keep popping up everywhere around the city. Even better, though, are the new escapes outside the city that are rising to the occasion too! One of the most beautiful examples being the Posthotel in Leavenworth where every room is a large relaxing suite, and the spa is is one of the best I’ve experienced.
After hearing so many good things about the hotel, a few weekends ago, my husband and I decided to head over to check it out for ourselves in an indulgent weekend getaway. This trip was not sponsored, you guys. I just really wanted to go, and really wanted to keep it personal and chill, so I didn’t even reach out to them. But after seeing it in person, I absolutely had to share!
The guest rooms are beautiful – every single one of them an expansive suite that includes a king sized bed, fireplace (not to mention a living room), a huge soaking tub and rainshower.
The attention to detail throughout the hotel is incredibly impressive. I’m a bit crazy about lighting in general, so I notice things like the fact that there is incredible lighting in the shower of all places. And all the architecture and decor, even in the hallways, is very authentic to European styling without trying too hard. There are moments that feel a bit like you’ve stepped into a Restoration Hardware catalog, but is that a bad thing? You can be the judge.
It goes without saying that the beds are insanely comfortable, too.
The view from our balcony on the 3rd floor of the hotel (there are only three floors and a small number of rooms!) looked out to the mountains, and yes, there was still snow on the ground two weeks ago! While I’m sure summers at the hotel are lovely, there’s something magical about the steaming pools and tubs in the midst of winter. Our room and the spa both faced the park, which is set back from the hotel grounds, bringing a bit more privacy to your swims and soaks.
The main pool area boasts beautiful arched windows that fill the room with sunshine during the day. Sliding glass doors connect the indoor pool to the outdoor pool, and the saltwater is kept at a perfect temperature – refreshing enough after time in the saunas and steam rooms, but still quite warm and comfortable.
The facilities are as lovely as you’d expect, and then some. Besides the large pool area and two hot tubs (one indoors and one out), there are two steam rooms (with another coming soon), and three saunas of different temperatures. Two cold plunge pools and a rain shower with various settings help round things out. And did I mention the nap room?
Adjacent to the spa is this little space that is quite literally meant for napping in the sunshine. And yes, there were people who absolutely took advantage of it!
From the bottom floor, the spiral staircase leads you up to the treatment rooms. We each had a massage that was insanely good, although the body wrap fell a little flat for me. Next time, I’m sure I’ll explore some of their facials!
Back up on the main floor the cozy lobby lounge offers more views and nooks to relax and enjoy the setting. The french doors also lead out to a large balcony with fire pits for the warmer months! And can we talk about those floors!?
The hotel’s main dining room provides guests with breakfast and lunch – included with your stay – in true European fashion. There is a small buffet as well as a few menu options for each meal on the weekends. During the week, it seemed like just the menu options were available.
It was a bit of a bummer to have to leave the hotel for dinner, but I suppose you have to get out of your robe at some point! Leavenworth leaves much to be desired in the way of cuisine, but there is one spot that I would love to try the next time we go, called Mana. Otherwise, set your expectations to medium when it comes to eating out.
Another good excuse to get outside? The complimentary bicycles waiting for you out front! Plus, there are tons of trails and rafting adventures to be had in the summer months. Or, if you’re like me, you can choose to throw on your robe for the whole day, find the coziest chaise, and settle in for some hibernation.
It’s a good thing that this place is a two hour drive or I’d be there way too much. That said, I’m happy that it’s close enough for me to sneak away to even during the week! By the way – the spa is mostly open only to guests to keep things from getting overcrowded, and it’s an 18+ property, which I very much appreciate.
