I’ve always loved Halloween – what kid doesn’t? Free candy and playing dress up? Count me in. And as I’ve aged that sentiment certainly hasn’t changed much – but the celebrations definitely have! We’ve gone from scandalous costumes at college house parties that last late into the night, to trick-or-treat gathering with friends who have their own kiddos. But that doesn’t mean we’ve stopped having fun…

swamp soiree2So for this Halloween, I dreamed up a swampy little soiree just for us… with swamp sips and snacks, dripping moss, and creepy crawlies that even the kids can appreciate…

Mossy cheese balls and cocktails foaming with egg whites suit the menu and theme perfectly, while dollar-store painted bugs and snakes creep through the setting…

We cut down an old branch to set the backdrop to the table – and covered it with plenty of cobwebs. Then, we finished off the wall with a mossy wreath (DIY coming!) adorned with a few creepy friends…

This setting is really all about the layers and layers of green and foliage that lends to that swampy feel – which actually makes it really easy to replicate! You can find the mossy urn right here. swamp soiree halloween party // coco kelley swamp soiree halloween party // coco kelley

The key to a classy Halloween party is, of course, choosing a few items that, despite being covered in moss, gauze, cobwebs, snakes and bugs will still shine – like these fabulous snake candleholders and gold-rimmed glassware.

Here’s how you can get the look ::
